Inwood is the first Nassau town north of the shop, a few minutes up Rockaway Turnpike, so walking in unannounced works as well from here as it does from the peninsula. Twenty to thirty minutes covers a chip. Windshields take about an hour before the cure, and most side glass is done the same day.

Of everywhere outside Queens that we serve, Inwood is the one people are surprised to hear is a different county. The county line runs between Bayswater and Inwood, and the drive from most Inwood addresses to Augustina Avenue is short enough that it barely counts as a trip. That makes this the easiest of our Nassau towns to serve, whether you bring the car in or ask for the van.
The vehicle mix leans commercial. Rockaway Turnpike and the streets off it carry warehousing, distribution and trades work, so alongside family cars we see a steady run of vans, box vehicles and pickups whose glass gets used hard. Those vehicles cannot sit idle, which is why we try to keep the turnaround tight and will say plainly whether a pane is available today or tomorrow. Prices are quoted before we start, comprehensive claims are filed by us when the policy allows, and the workmanship warranty applies exactly as it does for our Queens customers. Nothing about the job changes because you are over the line.
Inwood sits in the Town of Hempstead at the far southwestern corner of Nassau County, tucked between the Queens line, the airport and the water. Rockaway Turnpike is the main artery, running north toward the Nassau Expressway and JFK and south into Far Rockaway, with commercial and industrial premises along much of its length. Burnside Avenue and Doughty Boulevard handle the local traffic, and Inwood has its own station on the LIRR Far Rockaway branch, the same line that continues down onto the peninsula. To the south and west the land runs out into the marshy edge of Jamaica Bay. Traffic here is heavier with trucks than a residential town would be, and the turnpike is the road that determines how long any local trip takes.
“Very friendly service, Remarkably respectful and efficient employees. They replaced my passenger side window while I waited in significantly less time than they had quoted us.”
Inwood collects damage from two directions. Northbound, the turnpike and the Nassau Expressway carry a constant stream of freight to and from the airport, and heavy vehicles lift stone and grit that lands on whatever is following. Southbound, the same road runs down into Far Rockaway and the coast, so cars here get their share of salt air along with everyone else on this side of the county. The marsh at the western edge keeps humidity up year-round, which means an open chip does not dry out between one damp night and the next. Salt in a wet break is the combination that turns a small stone strike into a running crack, usually during the first properly cold week of the year.
Come south on Rockaway Turnpike and stay with it across the county line, where it feeds toward Seagirt Boulevard and the Far Rockaway street grid. Mott Avenue takes you the last stretch to Augustina Avenue, and the whole run is a matter of minutes outside the turnpike's busy periods. From Burnside Avenue or the streets closer to the water, work your way onto the turnpike first rather than trying to cut across the industrial blocks, which do not connect as directly as they look. If the glass is too far gone to drive on, the van is close enough that a same-day visit is usually possible.
Far Rockaway Auto Glass works across Queens and the surrounding towns — pick your neighborhood:
Yes, and being this close makes it practical. Walking in works best for chip repairs, which need no parts ordered and take under half an hour. For a windshield it is worth phoning ahead with the year, make and model so the correct pane is here when you arrive rather than being fetched while you wait at the counter.
That is usually the goal for Inwood customers. Side and rear glass on common vans is often a same-day job and the vehicle is drivable as soon as the trim is refitted. Windshields need their cure time, so those are best booked first thing. Tell us the vehicle's working schedule when you call and we will slot it where it costs you least.
Not in practice. Auto glass falls under the comprehensive part of your policy regardless of which side of the county line you live on, and we deal with the major carriers directly. Give us the policy details and we will handle the filing. We will also tell you when the deductible makes paying out of pocket the cheaper route.
Tell us the vehicle and the glass that's damaged — you'll see your price instantly, and we'll hold it for you.
